Original Italian plaster hanging, 2020.

 

This bespoke weave hanging is one of a kind creation unique to Vacarda Design. It is hand-crafted by fusing Italian plaster with chiffon, cutting it into strips and weaving together in a pattern suggested by the dynamics between the strips. The result is a unique pliable plaster tapestry with a loose and unrepeatable design. Created in milky white colour with earthy tints of brown, these small decorative hangings are perfect for minimalist and natural colour palette settings with an artsy character.

This original collection of plaster weave tapestries explores the relationship between the material, form, and craft. Italian plaster is seen traditionally to be a coating material to decorate and protect walls. It is not expected to take any other creative form.  By treating it as a textile, I give the plaster pliability and the independence to take on new and surprising shapes. Once fragile and vulnerable, the material transforms, offering new expressive possibilities.

Texture is an important expressive medium, and an intuitive creative process that guides my trowel. This loosening of control enables me to create works with a natural flow and tactility. By layering pigmented plaster, I am able to create a palpable texture that becomes part of the image. By fusing it with textile, grass and other elements, and treating it like fabric, I give the material the pliability to take on new forms and have a voice of its own.

This is an original work, unique in its execution and to its owner. It is one of a kind and cannot be replicated. Your piece will be the only one like it, anywhere in the world. Each piece has a brand logo stamp and comes with a printed certificate of authenticity. It includes the image of the artwork, the edition number and artwork details.

Delivery within the UK is free. Exceptions might apply to certain areas. Please reach out if in doubt.

 

Shipping outside the UK will incur an additional fee that varies depending on your location. It will be invoiced separately after you submit your order.

 

I take great care in preparing your artwork for shipment to make sure it gets to you safely. All original artwork is carefully packed and sent tracked and signed with a courier service. The work will be delivered within two to three weeks, depending on your location. For large and heavy artwork, I use a fine art delivery service, which can take up to three weeks to ship.

 

Please note international orders may incur customs duties (intra-EU orders excluded) which are not included in the shipping costs.
