2026 Fresco Series

There is a moment when an abstract shape becomes something familiar — a fleeting recognition that changes the way you see the whole image. Created between London and Oxford during the summer and autumn of 2026, this collection explores that moment through movement, shifting forms and a deliberately limited palette of three colours: yellow ochre, Payne’s grey and white. Familiar subjects appear, dissolve and take on new meanings, leaving space for each viewer’s own imagination.

Every composition is made without a brush, using only an eight-inch plaster trowel — an expressive technique developed through years of working with Venetian and decorative plasters. Acrylics are worked into wet and dry plaster, building layers in which spontaneous gestures meet the resistance and unpredictability of the material. A single movement can suggest a form, obscure another or change the direction of the entire composition.
