APPLICATION AND CARE

What surface can I apply it to?

You can apply your plaster sheet to any solid surface, including plastic, wood, ceramic, and acrylic glass. It can be applied to a painted wall, just make sure it’s not porous, and clean the wall before application. If you wish to remove and reuse the sheet in the future, then it works best with a painted wall.

For all other surfaces, we recommend that you prime and seal the surface you will apply the sheet to beforehand. Please note, it will be harder to remove the plaster from porous surfaces, like wood, MDF and paper, if they are not well sealed, and damage may occur to the plaster sheet when removing it.

Can I apply it to a curved surface?

Yes, our plaster sheet products finishes can be applied to curved surfaces. The sheet is pliable enough to take on some curves. For the best and long-lasting results, we recommend that the curve is no smaller than 15cm in diameter.

Do I need to re-plaster/ repaint the wall before I use your textures?

It depends on the health of your wall. The plaster sheet sticks well to painted surfaces, as long as they are not wet or crumbling, and cover small cracks and imperfections very well. If the wall surface is loose or damp, we recommend addressing those problem areas first and applying the sheet when the wall is ready and dry.

How do I install it?

Installation is very easy. In fact, it’s easier and faster to install our textures than a wallpaper. You can apply the plaster sheet to almost any solid surface without special tools.

If you wish to apply it straight to your wall or another solid, even and primed surface, we recommend using a standard wallpaper adhesive (like Solvite). You can paste either on the plaster sheet or the wall.

In some instances, i.e., in a bathroom, you might want to use a stronger adhesive. If you do, keep in mind that it will be hard to remove the sheet without stretching it and causing the plaster surface to crack. Please consider this prior to application.

How Can I remove it?

If applied to a painted wall or another well-sealed non-porous surface with a standard wallpaper adhesive, the plaster sheet will be easy to remove. Just follow these simple steps:

  • Lift one of the bottom corners of the sheet and slowly pull it off the wall.

  • Keep the plaster sheet facing downwards and at a wide angle. Pulling the sheet at a sharp angle might stretch its surface and create cracks.

  • If the sheet is stuck, spray some water under the space you’re lifting. Leave the sheet for 10-15 minutes, or as required, and then use a spatula to help ease the sheet’s grip on the surface.

  • Once the sheet has come off, lie it flat on the floor or any other firm clean surface. Inspect it for cracks or warps and let it rest there for some time until it is completely flat.

How can I re-use it?

Our plaster sheet is designed to last for years. You can cut it, frame it, re-apply to another surface, and even stitch it.

You can turn it into an applique artwork, a divider, trendy coasters, a new wall hanging, or you can apply it to the back of your cupboard shelves. Whatever you do with it, don’t forget to share the images of your creations with us. We love seeing how you get creative with our textures.

How can I cut it?

To cut a plaster sheet, use a sharp pair of fabric scissors or a rotary cutter. Just don’t forget to use a good ruler to guide your blade. Always check twice before cutting as these textures are one-of-a-kind.

Will it crack?

Our textures are made with real Italian plaster. While the sheet is pliable, its surface might develop small cracks if the sheet is snapped or bent in a wrong direction BEFORE it is applied to the wall.

Once it is on the wall, the sheet is durable and quite impact resistant. Well, unless you try hard to damage it.

Luckily, cracks may only appear in the top plaster surface, leaving the woven backing intact. That means you can still use and re-use your sheet, getting the best value out of it.

We believe cracks are the beauty wrinkles of authentic plaster surfaces. They add to the material’s charm and personality. Treat your unique plaster textures with respect and they will age beautifully.

How do I fix cracks in plaster?

Minor cracks might appear on the surface naturally with time or if the plaster sheet has been damaged during handling or application. If this happens, do not panic. The cracks only appear in the top layer, the plaster surface, while the woven backing remains undamaged.

Send them to how to?

Here is how you can fix cracks and bends in the surface:

  • Lie the plaster sheet flat on a clean surface and put a flat weight on the cracked area until it straightens out. A good option to use is a wooden board.

  • For older or reused textures, lightly spray the damaged area with clean water and let it absorb for 10-15 minutes before you put weight on it.

  • For transportation, cover cracked areas and the sheet edges with a strong sticky paper tape, like brown paper tape. It will keep damaged areas in check preventing cracks from growing.

How Do I Clean It?

Our textures require no special maintenance or care.

  • To keep it dust-free, brush the plaster with a duster or dry, non-fluff cloth when required.

  • To remove occasional markings, use a soft pencil eraser or lightly damp, undyed/non-fluff cloth and rub the surface with it gently.

  • To remove dirt and stains, gently rub the sheet with a lightly damp, undyed/non-fluff piece of cloth. For stronger stains, add a teardrop of clear washing-up liquid or soap to the cloth before you gently rub the stained surface with it.

Always be gentle when cleaning your plaster mural.
